Our Academic Programmes

We have presented below a brief overview of our academic programmes. All the subjects listed in both the junior and senior cycles are available at both Pass and Honours Level. Use the clickable image or menu below to navigate around our academic programmes.

As well as Junior and Leaving Cert programmes, we offer an exciting Transition Year programme. More information is available on this in our Transition Year section.
We understand that some students can find it difficult to study effectively at home so supervised study is available in the evenings.

Sometimes parents and students are not aware of the choices available to them in the senior cycle (the final two years in secondary school). Students can opt to take the Leaving Cert Vocational Programme (LCVP) as an add-on to their existing Leaving Cert. The LCVP programme enhances the vocational dimension of the Leaving Certificate and places emphasis on student’s innovation and enterprise.

The Leaving Cert Applied programme is available as an alternative to the traditional Leaving Certificate. It is a distinct, self-contained two-year programme aimed at preparing students for adult and working life.

More information on these programmes is available from the Department Of Education’s Second Level Support Service.

Transition Year

This is a one-year programme taken between Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate. It involves studying a wide range of academic subjects and the pursuit of extra-curricular activites. In our school, it also includes the production of a musical, running a business, foreign trips and Gaisce Awards.

This year helps to develop the skills that students require for the vocational and practical demands of life and is possibly their first real experience of the wider world. Students grow and mature in outlook and behaviour in this year. Full details about our TY programme is available in our Transition Year section.
